Cruise Time!

Mark and I took a cruise in May to celebrate our 5 year anniversary! We missed the baby but she was in good hands with all the grandparents. It was so fun and relaxing and great for Mark and me to be together. This was a 7 day Carnival Cruise (Mark's 3rd, my 4th) to the Southern Caribbean. Given our experience with the San Juan airport on our honeymoon, we weren't taking any chances on missing the cruise. We flew into San Juan a day early and stayed at a great resort.

Here's the view from our room. The ocean had a red flag so swimming wasn't permitted but the pool was a nice oasis!

Leaving San Juan on the Carnival Victory....

Here we are in St. Thomas at a bar we discovered last time we were there. When you are in the Caribbean and see a drink called the bushwacker, you need to try it! It is delicious but be careful, you don't realize how strong they are. It has 9 ingredients and 8 are alcoholic. My father-in-law makes a great one!

At dinner on the ship

Barbados. We took a catamaran sail to snorkel with sea turtles. It was amazing. We love Barbardos and hope to spend more time there.

St. Lucia. We took a catamran sail to the Pitons.

Even in St. Kitts you can find Gamecock fans!!!

In St. Maarten we did America's Cup Regatta. Mark did this the last time we were in St. Maarten while I went horseback riding and loved it so we did it together this year. You are in teams in sailboats and everyone has a job. Our boat won!!

Officer of the Year

Mark was named Police Officer of the Year for the Roswell Police Department! It was a suprise since a detective is rarely awarded this honor! I am so proud of him and all the hard work he does for us and his community. We are so fortunate to have a man of integrity working in this capacity. Please pardon all the bragging but I am so proud!!

Here we are at his first awards ceremony by the Roswell Junior Woman's Club. They had a really nice dinner awards ceremony.

Butterfly Birthday

Madeline's first birthday had a butterfly theme! We had a fun spaghetti dinner at the house followed by Madeline's first taste of cake!

Here we start off with a precious cupcake birthday bow. It lasted for about this picture. She used to be so good about keeping barrettes in but not anymore!

Here is a birthday hat that mircaulously stayed on the entire party! I love it and she will wear it every year on her birthday! Thanks, Bree and Wade!

Our family. Maarten and Yoda were running around somewhere, too busy to take a picture!

Hanging with Aunt Elizabeth!

Here are the butterfly cakes. I had fun decorating them. The first one (on top) looks very Mardi Gra-ish. That wasn't intentional, just how the sprinkles played out. Mark did the piping on the second one and I was very impressed! I guess working at Ben and Jerry's in high school paid off years later!

I made a separate smaller cake for Madeline that she could destroy and eat to her heart's content.

We stripped her down except for the hat, diaper and shoes for the big moment!

"Want some? I'll share!" I love this photo.

Playing nicely with Bree, aka trying to knock her out with a donut ring

Happy Birthday, sweet girl! We have come a long way in a year! You make every day fun!
